Policies & FAQs

  • A deposit of 50% of the total rental fee, including tax, cleaning fee and security deposit is due upon reservation acceptance. The remaining balance is automatically charged two days prior to check-in.

You will receive an email with additional information about your Blisswood stay a few weeks before your vacation date, but feel free to reach out anytime if questions arise.

  • Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to check-in will be fully refunded.

Cancellations made less than 30 days prior to check-in will result in forfeiture of rental deposit.

Cancellations within the 14 day period prior to check-in will result in forfeiture of the entire rental amount.

  • Check-in time is 5:00 p.m. for the Lodge and 4:00 p.m. for the other cabins.

    Check-out is at 11:00 a.m.

We will do our very best to accommodate early check in and late check out requests and will stay in close communication to confirm the availability with you.

  • As much as we would love to open our space to your furry friends, in order to ensure a peaceful and relaxing stay for all, and to maintain the historic nature of the cabins and original furnishings that have been so well loved and maintained throughout the years, we unfortunately are not able to allow pets at Blisswood.

  • Although we do not have direct access to the lake from our property, we are conveniently located close in proximity to some of the nicest beaches in northern Michigan.

My two very favorite beaches are a quick bike or car ride to Lamkin Road (approximately 2 miles north of us, in Good Hart): Readmond Township Beach and Middle Village Beach. Both beaches have parking, picnic tables, bathroom facilities, are easily accessible, and practically private, as they are still hidden gems in the area!

Also, Sturgeon Bay beach is only 12 miles or so north of us and tons of Blisswood guests venture up there for a beach day and it never disappoints.

We have beach chairs and umbrellas here for your use.

  • Each accommodation at Blisswood is a separate rental, so the Lodge is rented as its own unit and not used as a central gathering space for all Blisswood guests at this time. Unless of course you’ve rented the entire property - then it’s yours to enjoy!

We do have The Game Room across the road that is open and available for all Blisswood guests to enjoy anytime during your stay!

  • We no longer host traditional weddings at Blisswood, but we are open to elopements or micro-weddings that do not exceed our property capacity of 25 guests.

The entire property must be rented for small events and we are unable to have outdoor tents or amplified music on the property.

But if you’re looking for a peaceful and picturesque place to say “I do” with a few of your closest friends and family, please contact us directly to discuss in more detail.

  • The property changed hands in the late 1990s and it was during this time that the original farmhouse, called “The Pioneer”, was reimagined into the Chapel that you see today. The bell in the steeple dates back to the 1700s from the Catholic Mission in nearby Cross Village.

Although it is not used for services, it has been used for small weddings and has become yet another unique feature that adds to the peacefulness and tranquility that surrounds this entire place.

  • In addition to the washer and dryer in the Lodge and the stackable unit in the Moose cabin, we also have a wonderful laundry facility that is open and available to all Blisswood guests anytime during your stay! The laundry facility is located on the north end of the cabin across the road from Blisswood (the Game Room building) and is stocked with detergent and supplies.
